Fashion show

Fashion show is a big event for GCA every year. Students need to design their own clothes , make the clothes and show them to the whole school. After our group finish making the cloth, they chose me to be the model to show our design.

I never thought that I will be a model, but I am now. I saw some models on TV, I thought their job is very simple, just walking around and showing people what they are wearing.But it was totally wrong. A grade 11 student taught us a lot of things about how to be a good model.

Food is a very important part in human's life, no one would easily deny to eat a great delicacy. but these days , more and more people perfer to eat fastfood or restaurant food, especially teenages and unmarried people. Less people wanted to cook by themselve.

Apple sauce, which I need to make in planning class is a famous desert that many people fancied. the NFLS exchange students taught us how to make it. First, we went to SUGUO supermarket and search the things that we need: apples ,suger , honey and cinnamon.after that, we went back to our class, pur teacher let us to deal with the outfit of apples. that was not a hard work for me before but it is now. i still think the knifves they gave us is for cutting meat, not apples. When we finish cutting. the apple just had 1/3 left. Hopefully, we bought enough apple.Then the biggest difficult came, the Induction Cooker was not worked, all the group members tried their best, but it still did'nt work,after 1 hour, when all the apples turned brown, we finnaly find the right pot to cook it. I didn't think that anyone wanted to eat the things we made. It looks like the things in the washroom.

After that, I find the right way to make applesauce. Applesauce is such a simple thing to make, and so very versatile, that it makes store-bought versions seem pale and insipid in comparison! There were some pictures on the wall of GCA garden for a long time , may be there aren't enough plants in the garden, all of the pictures are different kinds of simple plants. Almost all of them looks like kindgarden's drawing. The are also some white walls in the garden, looks a little because of this, Ms Hadly wanted us to repaint the GCAgarden.

Eat western food with m family

After we had dinner with the Grade 12 students, I went to eat western food again. This time, I went to the restaurant in jinlin Hotel with my father.

This meal is total different with Jack’s place, it’s more solemn and romantic, very quiet. You even can hear the sound of a needle dropped on the floor. I think this place is better for a meeting or a date. It is not suitable for a dinner party because the atmosphere made me feel a little uncomfortable.

After the order, I looked around the restaurant, it was not very big but more elegant instead. I saw some foreigners eat and talk in a long table. Then I watched my table, lots of tableware, three knife: one for wiping butter, one for appetizer and the other one for main course. Two fork and two spoon, the big spoon is for drinking soup and the small one is for desert. In the middle of the table , there was a big basket of bread, different shapes and tasted. Dad told me that I need to eat some bread because the dishes we ordered would make in a long time, we might need to wait for 20 minutes. He was right! Actually, we waited for 25 minutes! I already finished all the bread in the small basketball but still feel very hungry. The first dish is Kaiser salad, a famous salad made of chicken’s chest and vegetables. It tasted good, the meat is very tender and the vegetables are flesh. Then we had the clam soup, when I drink it. Feeling in the mouth gentle full, is the traditional England flavor thick soup. when tastes, the clam tasty taste and the clam meat thick feeling in the mouth lets the person aftertaste be long.. the clams were all very clean, no sand in them and the clams didn’t have any bad smell. The color of the soup is like milk, that made the soup more tasty.. the main course came---- Diana beefsteak, it my favorite. After that meal., for a long time until today, I still think there isn’t an restaurant’s steak can equal that in my mind. It’s without equal.

This meal is very good, but I don’t think this place is suitable for our teenager, not only because of the solemn atmosphere, but also the high price of food. The most cheap food there(like small salad ) will also cost you 200 yuan!

The Chinese Art show

Art is different in different country, each country has it own kinds of cultural art, you also can say that the cultural art represent their own country. Today, I went to see an art show about the Chinese artwork.

This year in China is called “Niou Nian”, it mean’s this year is the Cow’s year. The cow is the simple of the year, you can see different cows everywhere this year, for example, this art show-----all of the drawing are about cows. When I enter the museum, the first artwork in my eyes is a big picture called “Holy Cow in Snow”, it is a Chinese painting. The artist of this artwork is contemporary, but his work is traditional. The artwork is constituted by three parts: the snow, the cow and the Calligraphy. The snow is very abstract just blue color, used dark and light part to show us the snow, it looks good from the distance, the blue and the white paper, looks like the snow on the mountain. I think the artist is smart to do this, it’s creative to make the background. The next part is the big cow in the picture, it is made by the ink, just black and white but looks very nice. The white snow on the black fur, walk in the snow by itself, like the holy cow in the story, bring people luck and happiness. The last part, the calligraphy, a good writing, tell us the name of the artwork and the artist’s name.

I like this artwork, it’s very simple, not difficult to understand. It used our cultural art, it told us a beautiful story and the view in the highland.

Cub Activity

I joined the guitar club this term, one of the reason is I want to learn playing a kind of musical instruments, guitar is a good choice. it is not heavy, not too expensive and not very difficult to learn, it sound is soft and beautiful and looks cool when you play it. Anther reason is the club take place at our classroom and the organizer is our classmate----Christopher, an excellent guitar player.

Christopher organized the club at the beginning of this term, many people joined, some of them had already known how to play guitar well, but I was not, I need to started from the beginning.Many guitar beginners are quite confused. Always said that did not know how to practice. Or is the feeling practices is not progressive. Also some are practices one year later did not know that they go practice anything. I general say according to these questions! First: How just started to practice the guitar. So-called practices. Must practice frequently. Moreover likes practicing. The interest is very important, the interest is best teacher. First you must have the enormous interest to the guitar. Is trains hard. Winter is very cold, I think most of people prefer staying at home to staying outside, but how many of people will go swimming in the cold day? This holiday, I tried "winter swimming" for four day.

Did volunteer work as a librarian

Nanjing has a very big library---Nanjing Library, there are millions of books for you to read and borrow. This holiday, I did volunteer work at these library, I learnt a lot even I just worked for five days.

The first day: Today was my first time came to this new library, I had seen it at it's old address, it really changed a lot, I felt a bit nervous because I didn't know what I can do. When I came in, I saw the map of the library: it has eight floor, include many department---teenager department, Chinese history department, English department and so on. When I was "research", my Mom called me to come and see Mr Ding, he would arrange work for me. After talking with him, he took me to the teenager department and told me try to be a librarian. There were two young librarian there and they all friendly to me, they taught me what to do. First, I clean the desks and the bookcases with other volunteer, then I had the lesson about the order of the books: There were about four thousands books here, the lift bookcase had number from A-Z, but "I" was different the "I" books were all in right bookcase, they all arranged by the number at back of them, small number to big number, small number at left and big number at right. After the lesson, at the left time , I put the books others returned to back to there place , it was tired because you need to stand all the time and watch the number very carefully.

The second day: We had a big project to do! The library bought 687 new books for teenager department, we need to register for them and put them on the bookcase, hopefully we had enough people. we put them on the desk , registered them and divided them into different categories, move all of them on the "small car"(a bookcase that can move), went to each bookcase and put the books on, it sounds easy but we spent the whole morning to do this , that hurt my leg very much but I still very happy, because I did something meaningful.

The third day: I got a work to do by myself ---check out all the books , ensure them was at the right place, I thought it was a easy work and would not took much time, but I was wrong it really took lots of time, Somehow , many books were at wrong place! may be there were too many children here and the couldn't find where they borrowed the book. the whole time, you see I was busy running between the bookcase, I also helped others find the book they want to read.

The forth and the fifth day : Nothing special , just did the same things like the days before, at the rest time , I read some interesting books there.

The days at the library ended, but I learnt a lot of things, I know how to find the books I want in library and I know how to organized things well. it would be helpful in my everyday life , I wouldn't forget about this experience.

Go Sking

I had learnt and tried many kinds of sports before---football, basketball, swimming, tennis and so on, most of them were very interesting. These days, I tried a new sport, a famous winter sport--- skiing.

I lived in Nanjing for 15 years , because of the location, the winter couldn't be too cold, so we don't have a ski resort and the people in Nanjing could not enjoyed the interesting of skiing. This year, I went to my hometown---Xuzhou, to spend my Spring Festival holiday. At there, I got a good news, my uncle told me that Xuzhou had already built a ski resort and if I want , I can go there any time! I felt very happy because this was my first time to do this , I only saw this sport on TV before, skiing was amazing and a little mysterious for me. I couldn't wait to try, I told my uncle immediately that I would go tomorrow.

The big day came , I got up very early, not only I was excited but also there would be too many people if we were late. On the way to the ski resort, I knew more details about the ski resort: this ski resort used artificial snow, not the real snow, it's a kind of chemical substance that can absorb water and become a substance that really like snow. When we talked about this , the car arrived, the ski resort was outdoor in a park, I quickly rushed into the park because I already saw lots of people in the park.We walked follow the pedestrians, sometime later, I saw white in front of me, I knew it is the ski resort. The ski resort was not very big , but it was enough for me, we employed a coach to teach us . He was very patient to us, he helped us chose the suit ski and the ski pole, then he took us to the ski resort, the ski shoes were very heavy, I feel like I was using prosthetic, I did know how to walk, the coach told me I need too be careful and move horizontal when I downstairs. We walked into the ski resort , he started to teach us , he told us how to put on the ski, how to move , how to change the direction and how to stop, especially how to stop, it's the most important , we would hurt others and ourselves, so I listened this part very carefully, The focus should be in front, palm down with their feet before the snowboard, preferably the weight of the whole person are placed before the handheld. I started tried by myself ,at first , I didn't do well, but after some try, I feel I can enjoyed myself, the feeling of skiing was really great , I felt that I was flying,I discovered I really somewhat loved this game ! Eat Westen Food

We had a big meal tonight, Ms Bartell gave us a project----eat western food with grade 12 students.that sound really great. There were too many western restaurants in Nanjing: Italian, German, french and so on. It was really hard for us to decided which one to choose. Finally, our class divided into two groups , one to German restaurant and the other went to Italian restaurant.I joined the second group because I know Italian food more than German and I thought this was more delicious.

Jack's Place was the restaurant we chose , the grade 12 students said that it was a great restaurant and it's price was media. it was on Xin Jie Kou and we would meet there at half past nineteen, we did not have too much time to arrive. I know this restaurant already, so I easily got there , when I arrived there were only four people , so I had enough time to see the menu and take order.

The Jack's place was not big but warm and tidy. there were not many people , and the quiet made me relaxed . Then I read the menu, there were too many things and I did not know what should I eat. At that time, the waitress came to me and said:"May I take your order?" "But it's very hard to decide . Is there any particular dish you would recommend ?" I answered . then she recommended the house specialty----Italian noodles, I think that was great but I want to eat steak, so I said:"I feel like a porterhouse steak tonight , what is this castle steak on the menu?" " It's a small steak cooked on a grill . " Then she said maybe I should try today's special---roast beef , which included appetizer, soup salad choice of desert, and tea or coffee. That sounds really great,"I think I'll try that ." I said to her, then I started to order."What appetizer would you like " "Coke, please""And the soup?" "I'll have the mushroom soup, and I want to change my salad into Italian noodles." Then she show me the list of dessert: pumpkin layer pie, peach pie,tiramisu ,rice pudding , ice-cream, and chocolate cake . I chose tiramisu as my dessert and a cup of coffee, the whole of this cost me 280 yuan.

I told the waitress that I need to wait my classmate , I drank a cup of free tea for a long time . After of them was arrived we had about 18 people , we used two big table. everyone started to eat or order. I couldn't wait to eat my food , the soup came first and it tasted so-so, I couldn't feel the differences between it and the same soup in other restaurant. The Italian noodles were great,it was a very famous Italian food and it special ways too eat: first, you needs to use the tableware is the fork and ladle . On fork abundant noodles, revolves slowly with the fork cusp in the ladle the fork, until has the fork the noodles plate on the fork this is for prevents to eat food, the noodles from the fork fall make the winning bid, causes in plate's butter and so on to splash and it tasted very nice .

I ate a lot until I would die if I continue to eat, this restaurant's food was great and eat with lots of friend was also interesting and lively.

New Year's Concert

At Chrismas----December 25th, my family and I went to the "Nanjing's people Guild Hall"and enjoied the "Jiang Su New Year's Concert".

JIang Su New Year's Concert had held for13 years . At the end of each year, the government of Jiang Su invited some famous pands in China to show us the wonderful music, sometimes forigen pands also came here to show their country's music . It was a good chance for people to enjoied music.

The ticket of the concert were hard to brought and all very expensive , there were many seats in the hall ,may be about two thounsand. but the tickets sold out very quickly and many people still couldn't got them. Luckily, we got the tickets. At the concert night , the front of the hall's door were very crowed , some people wanted to buy the tickets from others . We used nearly one century to get in and find our seats, after we sat down , some one gave us the song list of today's concert. Today, Chinese Symyhony was invited , they would show the beautiful chinese symphonoy music to us , most of them were classical music.I like them because they were soft and would not hurt my ears. There were lots of wonderful musics but I think this two were the best.

The first one was "The Moon Reflected In Er-qua"one of the most famous music in china,It had a long history.Two Reflecting Founts (The Moon Reflected In Er-qua) is Chinese folk urheen musician Hua Yanjun (Arab League splendid) representative works. Ms Hadley and Ms Bartell took us to see a exhibition about Mr Wu's artwork, they were all sulptureand very interesting.
My favourite artwork is "Popular Artists Aa Bing"made by Wu Weishen in 2007, it is made of bronze, tall1.5 miles , I think the person theartist made is not old , but he looks very aged. He is a man with glasses, his glasses sink into his face, andhis eye looks sad and very forceful, he must have had a lot of experience and met a lot of things during his life . there is a big hat on his head . the hat looks really dirty and old. he must have used it for many years. I can't see his body clearly, but in his right hand,m there is a musical instrunent, is called erufiddle so he is a mucican. That is also sink into his head.he looks smiling to us.
Wu Weshan made this artwork last year, at first, he used soil to mske it .It has become a famous artwork, then he put broze on it , that can makeit more firm. From the history , i know this person is blind, he played erhu fiddle on the streetto make money when he was a little child. he met different people and things during his life , and he put his emotion and experience and his reflectioninto his music, the most famous is called "REQUANTINYUAN"THAT MAKE LOTS OF FAMOUS MUSICIANS IN THE WORLD PRAISE IT. FROM THE PICTUR. the renses of his glassesare not clear, this means he is blind. we cansee the joys and sorrous, happiness and grief and success and adversity he experniced during his life from his face. he grasps his musical instrunent, so it sinks into his face, he grasps his musical intrunent,soit sinks intohis body, in think that because he loves it very much and it become a part of his life . I can feel his resolution from the artwork .It reminds me of the sad things i had met before, I think he is a very poor man and the artist
put all of the history and experience into the artwork, it looks like the real person.
